Cannot believe it is November 1st! Personally, I am trying to wrap my head around the temperatures dropping and that I soon must start wearing my winter coat. This week however, brings the typical non-weather conversation that occurs immediately after Halloween. My patients complain there is too much candy in their house and I try to convince them that they have tasted it all before and really can survive without it. I usually end up encouraging my patients to get rid of the candy; since most cannot simply have one small piece per day (my recommendation) till they tire of it . Bring it to work (better yet have your partner bring it to their work), give it to the doorman, mail person, or any “delivery person” who you come in contact with – OR donate it. If you Google “donate Halloween candy” you’ll be surprised what pops up. If you have kiddos, let them keep their favorites for a couple of weeks (Fingers crossed though that their favorites are not the same as yours!) and hopefully, they will  lose interest. Trust me, this is definitely more likely if you don’t make a fuss about the candy to begin with.

Product Pick of the Week: Outshine Fruit Bars

I have a confession to make:  when dinner is done – I am done eating! Crazy, right?? Well no matter how much I try and get others to join me on this bandwagon (mainly my hubby, and oh yes – my patients) I never seem to be successful. So what do you suggest for a person who likes to eat all night long (will not name names here…..) no matter what they ate for dinner? One of my recommendations is Outshine Fruit Bars! If you can eat just one, than any variety will do. BUT, if you can’t than I suggest the “no sugar added” variety. One bar is only 25 calories with 0 grams of fat. Yes, it has sugar alcohol and yes, it has sucralose, but I am OK with that. Bartley (oooops, guess I named a name!) might have 4 a night – but that is only 100 calories; SO much better than if he was eating a pint of ice cream. #smallchanges

10 Ways to Have a Healthier Thanksgiving

Here we go again – the articles about how to eat healthy during the holidays are upon us! You would think by now that most of us would of gotten the message; but alas, not so much. Thanks to the Rodale Wellness Blog for being my first interview this season on the topic, of which we know, will not be my last. Have to admit though there are some good, easy tips in this story; please take notes!

9 Tiny Tweaks To Make If You Want To Lose 10 Pounds or Less

I know this sounds crazy but sometimes the more weight we have to lose the easier it is. Probably a lot of this has to do with our habits. Really bad habits are often more obvious and a couple of small changes go a long way. However, if your habits appear overall pretty healthy, where would you even begin to change? Read this story by Women’s Health to find out the advice I and other RDs would give!

P.S. I give my favorite cocktail tip :)))
