Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither should you expect such immediacy when it comes to that hourglass figure you’ve been dreaming of.

That’s the message Keri Gans will pass along to those who attend the 11th annual Women’s Health Expo Saturday at TechCity in the town of Ulster.

Gans, one of the featured speakers, plans to tell people to be patient about weight loss, and, most importantly, to take baby steps toward the goal.

“My main message is that diets don’t work, and people need to change their behaviors. That is what works in weight loss,” she said in a phone call from Florida. “There is no silver bullet.”

That doesn’t mean there aren’t practical steps, said Gans, who has a private practice in Manhattan.

“But it’s those small changes, those easy, doable steps — those are what, over time, will lead to long-term success,” she said.
