With all our to-dos these days, it’s not surprising that fitness often falls to the bottom of our list. How to stop this cycle: Keri Gans, registered dietitian and author of The Small Change Diet says you need to change your perspective. “Start thinking about exercise as fun; i.e. going for a hike with your family, bowling with friends, or even a game of ping pong,” she says. “When you stop looking at exercise as a chore, it’s easier to find ways to squeeze some activity into your day, even if you can’t make it to the gym.” Try doing crunches and pushups for 15 minutes before you get cozy on the couch to watch your favorite show. Another idea: Set the alarm just 15 minutes earlier to squeeze a brisk walk in before you start your day. It’s usually easier to fit in smaller chunks of exercise vs. trying to carve out a 30-60 minute chunk all at one time.
