As I write this I am feeling the days of summer slowly coming to a close! How is it already the middle of August? Unfortunately, it is reminding me of all the things I said I was going to accomplish this summer and haven’t: handstands without a wall, peacock pose (trust me, it’s a hard one!), a relaxing day at the beach (I know – crazy that this hasn’t happened yet and I’m so close to the water.)

Well here’s the thing! The summer is NOT over, nor should goals have an expiration date. Or, I could also change the conversation in my head to a more positive one and remind myself of all that I have accomplished: paddle boarding, kayaking, BBQs with family and friends.

See you at the beach! xox

Keri’s Newest Obsession – SALSA

Have you ever known about something for ever but never was quite ready to jump on the band wagon? This is how I feel about salsa. Sure I’ve enjoyed it with guac and chips, who hasn’t? But I never took it to the next level, that is, until recently. SO, the other night I grilled up some branzino fillets. I cook these rather simply; I brush them with olive oil, salt, pepper and then grill for @ 3 minutes per side. But, this time when I served them, instead of just some lemon wedges, I added salsa on top. Yes, I just happened to have leftover salsa from the previous weekend when I served them with guac and chips to guests! Anyhoo, the salsa on the branzino was a game changer; it never tasted better. A couple of days later, I topped my grilled scallops with salsa. AGAIN, a game changer! I can’t even imagine what’s next, can you?

10 Things To Know Before Trying The Ketogenic DietMy Fitness Pal Blog

Well folks, this diet just isn’t going away. AND to add salt to the wound one of my besties (Hello Abbie!) told me the other day, during yoga class of all things, that she was trying it! Really? And I call her a friend? Ha! Putting all that aside, there isn’t one good reason I would suggest to anyone wanting to lose weight that they try this diet. It is hands down a lesson in restriction and deprivation and not a lesson in how to eat healthy. If you are considering starting on this fad, please read the above article. I’m especially talking to you Abbie!

How To Tell If A Watermelon Is RipeU.S. News Eat + Run

During the summer we are busy buying all types of fruits and many of them we have no idea how to tell if they are ready to be eaten or not. HELLO….watermelon, pineapple, canteloupe, mango, etc.!!!! I was reminded of this lately when a total stranger asked me if the melon she was holding was ripe. I spoke to her as if I totally knew what I was talking about and helped her choose a good one. However, when I got home I quickly did a google search to make sure I didn’t send her astray. My latest blog for U.S. News will tell you what I learned. Thank you stranger!
