Well the day has finally come…Election Day!!! It couldn’t of come any sooner since I am so tired of the craziness. Honestly though, I will miss all the late night comedy spoofs on the candidates. Laughing is so much more fun than crying!  Anyhow, I know many of my friends, family and patients have been extremely stressed by all of it. Hopefully on Wednesday we can wake up and feel positive about our country and most of all ourselves! And no matter what the results, I know I will find some comfort on my yoga mat with a martini chaser! (Just kidding!!!!?)

Product Pick of the Week: SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia Sweetener

I don’t know about you, but I have tried many stevia sweeteners and just never loved the taste. That’s until I tried SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia Sweetener.

Until now, most stevia sweeteners have been made from an extract of the stevia leaf called Reb A, which can have a bitter aftertaste. But SPLENDA® Naturals primarily uses a better tasting extract called Reb D. This means the perfect blend with no bitter aftertaste!

But here’s the thing. Using stevia as a sweetener is strictly a preference. I have been using SPLENDA® Sweeteners for years. While I am a “yellow packet” girl, I like to have sweetening options and it’s great that SPLENDA® Brand now has a great-tasting stevia-based sweetener for consumers who are looking for an alternative.

Low calorie sweeteners can be a helpful tool for those individuals trying to lose or maintain their weight. But they can also be used for someone who just wants to consume less added sugar overall. (HINT: after all that Halloween candy and election anxiety!) I for one would never argue with that.

Enough With the Protein, America

For at least the past year, if not maybe longer, protein has become the new “it girl”. And I will agree there are some very good reasons for it to be so popular. But I will not agree that every “Tom, Dick or Harry” product needs to tout it’s inclusion or add extra to make it worth buying. Thanks to Bloomberg.com for asking for my opinion and covering a topic that falls under one of my pet peeves.

Let’s get one thing straight: most people (and that means not only women) aren’t eating enough fiber. This Women’s Health article is focused on weight loss; but honestly, fiber is also important for so many other reasons!!! It may help to lower cholesterol levels, keep blood sugar stable and prevent certain cancers. The added bonus is weight loss – almost by default. Read on my friends!
