When you go to someone’s house for dinner do you have a “special” dish that you bring with you? For me, in the summer, it is hands down fruit salad. Typically I suggest that I bring one and typically my hosts are overjoyed at my suggestion. My fruit salad varies a little but usually consists of: blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, watermelon, oranges and grapefruit. The other night however is was met with fierce competition for dessert. Hello, Levain Bakery cookies! OMG, these cookies are to die for! Yes, of course I had a bite or two! But at the end of the evening it was my fruit salad that had everyone talking! Or was that me who couldn’t stop bragging? Ha!

Keri’s Bar: Orange Cubes

With the heat of the summer upon us, I’m always looking for ways to stay cool. Hubby suggested we simply stay indoors with the air conditioning on. Hmmm? As much as that sounds inviting (especially if Netflix binge watching is included) I do love the outdoors.

So my stay-cool solution this summer? Make ice cubes out of orange juice and add them to seltzer—a tasty and very refreshing combo! Plus, I can even wow my summer guests by adding some of these fancy orange cubes to their vodka. Yes, I aim to please!

While you can freeze any fruit juice, my preference is OJ—Florida’s Natural® Brand, to be exact. Their juice is made from oranges that come entirely from family groves in Florida, and nowhere else. And, being that my mom and sister live in Florida, perhaps you could call me a wee bit biased. I also love that my Florida’s Natural orange juice cubes bring some Vitamin C and potassium to every cup of seltzer I pour. And that is something you cannot get by simply cranking up the A.C. Sorry Honey!

Disclosure: This post was paid for by Florida’s Natural® Brand Orange Juice, but my opinion is mine.

Yep, we all have them!!! Mine is probably not a secret to most people who know me. Drum roll please…..French fries! Shocker, I know! But the interesting thing is how I have made peace with them. Our turbulent relationship is a testament to how “if there’s a will, there’s a way!” Loved reading about my RD pals and their struggles – this story is definitely a fun one!

7 Calorie Free Ways to Reward Yourself for Weight LossEverday Health

So many times when people think of “rewards” they think of food. “I’m going to celebrate with a huge piece of cake!” Not! When you are losing weight obviously that’s the last thing you should be doing. Honestly, I don’t like to think of food as a reward at anytime, but that’s another story. For this story I talk about a massage. But I think I like the #5 suggestion even more!
