One of my favorite quotes I share on social media is: “If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not you will find an excuse.” I think we are all guilty of this on some level. Personally I know I put off doing things sometimes and claim it is because of lack of time. But, then I will find myself wasting a ton of time looking at photos on Instagram or speaking on the phone with my mom or sister for way to long. Truth is, we could probably all do a little less with the excuses and more with the action. Because if we don’t find the way on our own, nobody else is going to take us there.

You Ask, I Answer: “Should I always have a snack before I dine out?”

Not necessarily. I use to think a midday snack was the only way to help curb a person’s appetite towards dinner, especially if dining out. However, after years of being in private practice I have found that for some this rule applies, and for others it most certainly does not.

Here’s what I mean:

If you are going to dine out and know that NO matter what you are going to eat from the bread basket and order whatever you are in the mood for, than don’t waste the calories on a snack.

BUT, on the other hand…….

If you are going to dine out and a know that a snacks helps you to make a better decision while dining out and that decision is really important to you than by all means grab a snack.

At the end of the day, the answer is not black or white. It definitely may vary depending upon the situation and you must decide what works best for you based on your personal health goals.

Should You Stop Weighing Yourself? Probably. What’s Good, Vitamin Shoppe

To weigh or not to weigh that is the question! My answer: it depends! If you have a non-healthy relationship with the scale (and you know if that’s you) than I say no. If you have a healthy relationship with the scale (in other words it doesn’t cause you to feel badly about yourself) than I say yes. Read on to see what other experts think!

10 Drinks You Should Never Order at a Bar Money Magazine

I get interviewed a lot on what are the best (or worst) drinks to order at a bar. Hmmm? Wonder what that means? 🙂 Anyhow, I typically respond with the same advice that whichever you LOVE and will drink more of maybe is the one you shouldn’t order. That is of course if weight loss is your goal. Your liver, well that’s another story all together. In the meanwhile, all I can say is thank god martinis did NOT make this list!
