I always find it funny when someone says to me: “You really eat ______!” No silly, I just post it on Instagram and pretend. YES…i eat that!!!! I eat burgers, bagels (OK – scooped), french fries and gasp…..pizza! I am that boring nutritionist who thinks ALL foods can fit. As I always tell my patients, it’s what we do the majority of the time that matters most. So having a bacon cheese burger with fries for lunch on a Monday, three slices of pizza for dinner on Tuesday, 1/2 pint of ice cream for dessert on Wednesday, etc., would not be at all what I mean! Remember in healthy eating, consistency NOT deprivation is what wins!!!!

Keri’s Product Pick: Chobani Mezé Dip

Just when you thought nothing more could be done with Greek yogurt the Chobani folks decided to introduce a dip.* And let me just say….thank you!!!! This dip could be used in the same way you would hummus…..i.e. with chips (baked that is), raw veggies, instead of mayo as a spread in a sandwich…..you name it! It comes in a variety of flavors, my personal favorite being the roasted red pepper. It is lower in calories than hummus, so you could actually eat just a tad more!

What Nutritionists Really Eat at a BBQ

OK, so some of my nutritionist pals really do eat healthy at a barbecue. I actually wish they lived closer and could bring some of their fixins over to my house, especially Jim. Lots of their ideas are healthy renditions of popular BBQ favorites and thanks to my RD friend Patricia you can read about them on her blog post on Livestrong. If you’re also curious about what they might be drinking at that BBQ, check out an old post of mine on US News.

This Is How to Choose Bread That Is Actually Healthy, According to Nutritionists

As I mentioned in my intro this week, so many people are shocked when they find out many of my food choices. A sandwich for lunch is one of those such shockers. For me, a sandwich is hands down more satisfying than a salad. As I told Women’s Health, ” Bread can be an incredibly nutritious addition to your diet”. But just don’t take my word for it…..read the rest of this interview!
